In some areas, broadcast signals are strong enough that an amplifier is not necessary. Please connect the antenna to the TV/converter box without an amplifier first. If you are not receiving a clear picture on some channels, then install an amplifier with your antenna. If your location is close to the broadcast tower, an amplifier would make the reception worse.
